What is High Strength Brass?

High-Strength Brass is one of the representative base materials for Oilless Bearings. Zn, Al, Mn, Fe, etc. are added to 60/40 brass to increase strength and hardness, so it has excellent wear resistance even under high loads.
High-Strength Brass, commonly called Manganese Bronze, consists of the α+β structure. In particular, when high hardness and abrasion resistance are required, a single-phase type of β is also used.



KS CAC304 (DIN CuZn25Al5 / ASTM C86300) has high hardness and strength among high-strength brass materials, so it has high wear resistance even under high surface pressure. SGO has been developed and produced brass optimized for wear resistance characteristics of SP20 (hardness HBW 200), SP24 (hardness HBW 245), and SP28 (hardness HBW280) within the CAC304 standard range.
