What is SDX Bearing? (2) ✅ FAQ 1. What is the difference between SDX and dry-bearing SDU? SDU is a dry-bearing that can operate without lubrication and is resistant to most solvents and industrial fluids. On the other hand, SDX bearings are pre-lubricated by applying grease during assembly and are generally used in agricultural machinery, hydraulic machinery, and automobiles. 2. What is the plating material for the outer diameter? It is usually tin-plated with a thickness of about 0.002 mm, and copper plating is available upon request. 3. Is there any difference in performance depending on the POM colors? There is no difference in the performance and price from the standard product (yellow POM + tin plating). Other colors besides yellow POM can be made to order. SDX bearings with PEEK are recommended for high-temperature environments such as high-pressure gear pumps, water injection pumps, paint spraying, etc. 4. What material is recommended for the shaft? It can be used with all...

Rolling Bearing and Oilless Bearing

What is the difference between oilless bearings and rolling bearings? This question is one of the most frequently asked questions by customers, and here is the table below showing the advantages and disadvantages of each bearing.

※ A-Excellent B-Average C-Below Average

1. Rolling Bearings

① Advantages

  - Standardized goods, high compatibility, and cost-effective except for special products

  - No performance degradation until around 100℃

  - Good accommodate to thrust and radial loads

  - Very low frictional resistance when starting

② Disadvantages

  - Large Inside and Outside diameter for narrow width

  - Requires handle with care when fitting the inner and outer rings

  - Weak to impact and noise occurrence depending on the precision

  - Repeated stress on the raceway, and generally not allowed axial change

2. Oilless Bearings

① Advantages

  - Easy to make to order as per requirement

  - No need for a separate lubricant by using solid lubricants such as graphite and plastic

  - Good performance in boundary friction, high load, low-speed motion,

    reciprocating motion, impact load, etc.

  - Various options for materials and dimensions in consideration of working conditions

② Disadvantages

  - Unable to use at high speed without lubrication

  - High friction coefficient compared to regular lubricated sliding bearings,

which can cause seizures or shorten the lifespan

As you see above, rolling bearings and oilless bearings have different characteristics, it is essential to select a bearing that meets the required service life or design specifications (working conditions).
